TRASHMag

TRASHMag, Founder & Editor-in-Chief

In 2019 I launched TRASHMag – my award-winning graduate project from the BA Fashion Communication: Journalism course at Central Saint Martins.

Having returned to college after a year of working in the fashion industry, I felt determined to make editorial content around sustainable fashion that was fun, exciting, and honest.

The magazine featured interviews with up-and-coming designers working with recycled materials and profiled leading sustainable fashion experts such as Clare Press and Orsola de Castro.

TRASHMag’s tone was an antidote to the ‘gloom and doom,’ narrative at mainstream publications and used satire to raise awareness of the fashion industry’s environmental impact, alongside interviews the magazine featured bite-sized features like ‘How to Dress for Global Warming.’

I was awarded the LVMH Green Trail Award for reinventing the language around sustainable fashion with a light-hearted tone of voice and visual style. In the year it launched it was featured in several exhibitions, including those hosted at London Fashion Week, Matches Fashion’s 5 Carlos Place, and The London Design Festival.

The physical product was printed using vegetable-based inks, on recycled paper with a cellulose-based gloss for the cover.

TRASHMag has been featured in 1 Granary, Hypebest and Thread.
